Aim of the foundation

The Foundation aims at:

  • making an effort for patients with cardiac diseases in developing regions; and offering the proper surgical or interventional treatment for heart- and lung diseases
  • offering education and training to our local colleagues
  • offering proper aftercare to these treated patients
  • Investing in the education of our target audience and their relatives, especially aiming at the new generation, by improving awareness for a healthy lifestyle concerning food and selfcare, including all that may be related to this improvement of health in the broadest sense of the word.
 

The Foundation intends to fulfill her goals by amongst others:

  •  performing or facilitating performance of surgical interventions by a team of professionals, doctors and paramedics that is based in the Netherlands
  •  providing medical materials
  •  offering education concerning pedagogical issues
  •  organizing missions to aid the individuals who have been defined in the section of description of the aims
 

The Foundation focuses on needy regions in North Africa or there where there is a necessity for cardiothoracic care.

The Foundation does not seek to make profit

The board

The current board is comprised of professionals who have extensive knowledge and experience in cardiothoracic surgery and the management of an organization. 

Mw. Ghada Shahin, is cardiothoracic surgeon currently working in Leiden University Medical Center. Her function within H4HI is founder and chairperson. 

Mw. Rianne Rijsdijk, started as scrub nurse but she is now also qualified as Physician Assistant. Today she works in the University Medical Center of Utrecht. Furthermore, she is vice-president and financial board member of the Dutch Association for Physician Assistants (NAPA). Her function within H4HI is treasurer.

Mw. Nicoline Wesseling, is operatie-assistente van huis uit en heeft zich verder gekwalificeerd tot Physician Assistant. Zij is momenteel werkzaam in het Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht. Zij heeft ook ervaring met het runnen van een eigen bedrijf. Haar functie binnen H4HI is secretaris.

Mw. Steffi Geerts, is employment lawyer at Isala Hospital Zwolle and very well informed on the management of an organization like H4HI. Her experience at Doctors Without Borders make her irreplaceable. Her function within H4HI is general board member.

Mw. Ganiye Arpaci, is cardioloog werkzaam in de Treant Zorggroep, met een speciale focus op non-invasieve beeldvorming en hart-en vaatziekten bij vrouwen. Zij draagt zorg over het strategisch niveau en is algemeen bestuurslid. 

Mw. Noor Smit, is not an official board member but she carries the responsibility of the content creation and management of the social media channels, moreover she is priceless for all the administrative work she does for H4HI.

There is no compensation policy for the board members other than a compensation for expenses serving the purpose of the Foundation.
